A major incident can be invoked for a situation where ITS have proved no ability to impact its resolution, where a 3rd party is at fault, i.e. a faculty has admitted “culpability”, we do this to provide quality management of ITS information, provide enhanced liaison with the organisation, and peripherally assist with resolution.
A major incident may be declared that requires ITS action to mitigate actions of a customer or 3rd party that are having an impact on ITS’s services, possibly to other customers. E.G. a faculty provided IT service floods the network with bad data.
